Brothers Comfort Services was one of our first clients when Reach started, and they’re still with us. They came to us the way a lot of our clients do: unhappy with their previous developer and unsure what to do about the site they were left with.

The challenge

The website was outdated and sitting somewhere the company had no real control over. For a home service business that’s a bigger problem than it sounds. When a homeowner’s system fails, they search, they scan the first few results, and they call. A slow, dated site loses that call before anyone picks up the phone.

Content was the other half of it. The site didn’t reflect the services Brothers Comfort actually offers or the towns they actually cover, which meant it wasn’t showing up for the searches that matter most: a service, plus a town, typed by someone who needs help today.

What we did

Migration first

We moved the site onto our managed hosting so it was fast, secure, and somewhere we could actually work on it. That’s always step one with an inherited site — stabilize it before changing it.

A full redesign and restructure

Then we rebuilt it. Not a new coat of paint: a redesign with the content restructured around how homeowners search and decide. Services organized so each one has a home, the phone number where a panicking homeowner will find it, and a structure that has room for the towns and services the company keeps adding.

Integrations that fit how they work

A home service business runs on its scheduling and dispatch tools, and the website has to work with them rather than around them. We handle the integrations with the third-party systems Brothers Comfort uses, including their field service platform and the live chat that catches visitors who’d rather type than call.

Monthly content and location pages

Brothers Comfort is on our SEO plan, which for them means two things every month: blog content written for homeowners rather than for search engines, and new location-targeted pages for the towns they serve.

That second part is the engine. A home services website competing across a wide service area needs a real page for each town, not one page listing thirty of them. Every month adds another town they can rank in, and the library compounds.

The results

Brothers Comfort has a site they own, hosted somewhere they can rely on, growing every month rather than aging. Their service pages and location pages keep expanding, and the company has been with us since Reach started — which, for a business that arrived unhappy with its last developer, is the result we care most about.

If you inherited a website you can’t work with

Being handed a site by a developer you’ve parted ways with is uncomfortable. You often don’t know where it’s hosted, who has the logins, or what it would take to fix.

The first step is always the same: get it somewhere safe and work out what’s worth keeping. Sometimes the answer is a migration and a tidy-up. Sometimes it’s a rebuild. Either way you should know which before you spend anything.

If that’s where you are, get a proposal and we’ll take a look.
